Eyes Wide Open

Eyes wide open

Can’t sleep.

Brain is working

Can’t sleep.

Feeling tired

Can’t sleep.

Feeling wired

Can’t sleep.

My body’s achy

Can’t sleep.

My eyes are heavy

Can’t sleep.

Clock is ticking

Can’t sleep.

The birds are awakening

Can’t sleep.

Sun is rising

Can’t sleep.

Daylight’s coming

Can’t sleep.

Alarm is ringing

Oh wait…I’m finally asleep.

[…] Note: This isn’t the first time I’ve written about sleep. In my poem “Eyes Wide Open“ I lament about being wide awake all night and only wanting to fall asleep as daylight comes. […]

The worst is when you’re tossing and turning all night and then finally relax enough to fall asleep right when you need to wake up! (the last part of the poem speaks to this!) =)
